GENESIS 5: AIT Pune Hosts India’s Biggest Student-Driven Game Jam
Pune, 10th February 2026: The Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality (AR-VR) Club of the Army Institute of Technology (AIT), Pune, is hosting GENESIS 5, India’s largest student-led game jam, bringing together young game developers from across the country to create original games under real-world industry conditions.
Now in its fifth edition, GENESIS has received an overwhelming response this year, with more than 400 teams registering on the Unstop platform. After a rigorous screening process, only 20 teams have been shortlisted for the offline grand finale, which will be held on February 14 and 15, 2026, at the AIT campus.
The competition features two major tracks — the Main Game Jam and the VR Game Jam — giving participants an opportunity to work on both traditional and immersive gaming formats. Over two days, students will design, build, and test their games while facing practical challenges similar to those in the professional gaming industry.
With a total prize pool of ₹90,000, supported by sponsors GameCloud and GameDoora, the event also highlights the growing importance of AR/VR and game development skills among India’s youth.
An organiser from the AR-VR Club said, “GENESIS has always been about pushing creative boundaries. We believe that reality can be shaped by imagination, and this platform allows students to turn ideas into interactive experiences.”
GENESIS 5 is expected to strengthen Pune’s position as a hub for student innovation in emerging technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality, and interactive entertainment.
