Transgender Helpline 14427 Goes Live: Info on Schemes, Complaints and Guidance
Pune, 10th February 2026: In a significant step towards strengthening support for the transgender community, the Central government has launched a dedicated national helpline number 14427 as part of its portal under the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019 and Rules, 2020.
The helpline has been introduced to provide transgender persons with easy access to information about government welfare schemes, guidance on application procedures, grievance redressal, and the facility to register complaints.
Through this platform, members of the community can seek assistance related to their rights, entitlements and services without having to visit offices in person.
The portal, developed by the Central government, is aimed at ensuring better implementation of policies meant for the welfare and protection of transgender persons across the country.
Vishal Londhe, Assistant Commissioner, Social Welfare, Pune, appealed to transgender individuals to actively use the national helpline. “The helpline is meant to make government support systems more accessible and responsive. We urge members of the transgender community to make full use of this facility for information, guidance and grievance redressal,” he said.
Officials said the initiative is expected to improve outreach, transparency and access to services for transgender persons, while also strengthening the grievance-handling mechanism under the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) framework.
