Pune JW Marriott Incident: Young Man Seriously Injured in Baseball Bat Attack
Pune, 11th February 2026: A dispute over a cancelled event at JW Marriott on Senapati Bapat Road turned violent on February 6, leaving a young man seriously injured after being attacked with a baseball bat. Shubham Sanjay Shinde, 28, from Ghorpade Peth, reported that the assault occurred near Gate No. 5 of the hotel around 11 a.m.
According to the complaint, the confrontation began when the accused — Prathamesh More (around 25, Rahatni), Akshay Karpe (25), and four unidentified men — allegedly attacked Shubham’s brother, Sarang Shinde. When Shubham tried to intervene, one of the assailants struck him on the left hand with a baseball bat and pushed him, resulting in a fracture to his right wrist and left hand.
The injured were rushed to a hospital for immediate treatment. A case has been filed at Chatushrungi Police Station under Sections 118(2), 351(2), 189(2), 189(4), 190, 191(2), and 191(3) of the Indian Penal Code, 2023. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
