PMC Deploys Five Teams to Crack Down on Illegal Hoardings Across Pune
Pune, 12th February 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has constituted five special teams to take action against illegal hoardings across the city. The teams have been tasked with conducting inspections in different areas to identify unauthorised and rule-violating advertisement boards.
According to Madhav Jagtap, Deputy Commissioner of the Sky Sign and Licence Department, hoardings installed without permission, those violating advertising norms, or those exceeding approved dimensions will be removed. During inspections, officials will verify whether the hoarding displays a valid permission number, whether its size matches the approved plan, and whether all civic regulations are being followed.
Any hoarding found to be illegal will be removed immediately. The PMC will initiate financial recovery proceedings against the concerned owner. Officials will also use digital tools, including Google Images, to determine how long the hoarding has been in place. Based on the findings, the civic body will recover penalty charges along with pending licence fees. In addition, the estimated removal cost of approximately ₹2 lakh will also be recovered from the owner.
On the first day of the special drive, a team inspected 30 hoardings in Hadapsar, of which seven were found to be unauthorised and subsequently removed.
The PMC said the action aims to improve road safety, prevent potential hazards, and maintain the city’s visual environment. Similar inspection drives will be carried out in other parts of Pune in the coming days.
