Pune: MLA Pathare Warns of Protest if Long-Pending Lohgaon Road Works Don’t Begin Within Eight Days
Reported by Mubarak Ansari
Lohgaon, 24th February 2026: MLA Bapusaheb Pathare has issued a stern warning to the Public Works Department (PWD), stating that if long-pending road construction works in Lohgaon do not commence within the next eight days, a sit-in protest will be staged in front of the office of the Superintending Engineer.
In a formal complaint submitted to Superintending Engineer Bharatkumar Bawiskar, Pathare expressed strong dissatisfaction over repeated delays in crucial road projects. Roads such as D.Y. Patil Road, Lohgaon–Nirgudi Road, Lohgaon–Wagholi to Kalbhor Vasti Road, Malwadi Road, Pathare Vasti Road, and Pawar Vasti Road have been pending for several years. Despite multiple meetings with officials and five on-site inspections, no substantial progress has been made.
The MLA pointed out that some road work had begun even before the completion of drainage and drinking water line projects. Although the officials completed these underlying works after being alerted, construction of the roads themselves has still not started.
Repeated follow-ups with the department have resulted in various excuses, and contractors have yet to take any concrete action.
Residents have expressed mounting frustration due to poor road conditions, dust, and traffic congestion, which have caused widespread inconvenience. With the Lohgaon Yatra scheduled in the coming days, the situation could worsen further.
Considering these factors, Pathare demanded that road construction begin within eight days. He warned that failure to do so would compel him to organize a protest outside the PWD Superintending Engineer’s office, even during the ongoing budget session of the state legislature.
