Pune, 24th February 2026: The deeply moving documentary ‘Oslo: A Tail of Promise’ received an emotional response at its special premiere screening held on 21 February at City Pride Kothrud. The film, which previously touched hearts at its world premiere at the International Film Festival of India in Goa, continues to resonate with audiences through its powerful exploration of love, belonging, and the human–animal bond.
Presented by Bollywood actor and noted animal advocate John Abraham, whose presence added gravitas to the evening, the film drew a warm reception from viewers, animal welfare supporters, and members of Pune’s cultural community. His association with the project underscores its message of compassion and responsible coexistence with animals and nature.
Directed by Isha Pungaliya, the non-fiction feature narrates the extraordinary journey of Oslo, a traumatised Siberian Husky who, after moving through multiple homes, finds belonging with Pooja R. Bhale at The Farm in Pune. What unfolds is a profound story of healing, surrender, and unconditional love. The narrative traces an evocative journey from Pune to the Himalayas, celebrating the transformative relationships between humans, animals, and the natural world.
At the heart of the film is Bhale, founder of Protecterra Ecological Foundation, who has lived at The Farm since 2015, caring for over 40 animals and creating a sanctuary rooted in compassion and coexistence. The film presents her courage and commitment through a women-led narrative that foregrounds empathy, ecological awareness, and shared existence.
Produced by Protecterra Ecological Foundation, Vaanar Nirmit, and John Abraham Entertainment, the documentary features cinematography by FTII alumnus Shamin Kulkarni and an original score by Hriday Gattani, both contributing to its meditative visual and emotional texture.
Following the screening, audiences engaged in a heartfelt interaction with the cast and crew, reflecting on the film’s central message: that animals and nature are sentient beings capable of transforming human lives through love and presence.
With its poignant storytelling and universal emotional appeal, Oslo: A Tail of Promise stands as a reminder of compassion, coexistence, and the profound healing that emerges when humans reconnect with the natural world.
