Budhwar Peth, 6th March 2026: The Faraskhana Police Station conducted a raid on March 5, 2026, rescuing four Bangladeshi women and one Bangladeshi man from a brothel operating on the first floor of Janata Building in Budhwar Peth, Pune. The operation was based on confidential intelligence received by DCP Rishikesh Rawale (Zone 1) and was led by Senior Police Inspector Prashant Bhasme along with Police Sub-Inspector Chandrakant Javalgi and his team.
The raid, carried out between 6:30 pm and 10:30 pm, resulted in the arrest of Bhopsing Rajput, a resident of Janata Building, Budhwar Peth. Legal action has been initiated against three other accused: a Bangladesh-based agent, Babu Bhaiya alias Papa Shaikh of Budhwar Peth, and property owner Meenakshi Ramesh Metri.
Investigations revealed that the accused lured the victims with false promises of jobs in beauty parlors and tailoring. Instead, the victims were allegedly coerced and forced into prostitution, with the earnings misappropriated by the accused.
DCP Rishikesh Rawale said, “Our teams acted swiftly on the intelligence received, and this operation has helped rescue vulnerable individuals who were being exploited. We remain committed to ensuring the safety and dignity of all victims and will continue to crack down on such criminal networks.”
A formal complaint has been registered at Faraskhana Police Station under Crime Register No. 71/2026, citing violations under Sections 143(1), (3), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and Sections 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.
The police have confirmed that the accused have no prior criminal records and that the investigation is ongoing.
