Pune, 7th March 2026: Residents of the Mohadme–Undri belt have raised concerns over delays in key civic infrastructure works, alleging that incomplete projects and alleged inaction by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) are causing severe inconvenience to commuters and local residents.

In a representation submitted to civic authorities, members of the Mohdwadi–Undri Residents Welfare Development Forum (MURWDF) highlighted three major issues, including delays in the construction of an elevated road, pending work related to shifting of electricity lines at Kad Nagar junction, and the presence of illegal encroachments causing traffic congestion in the area.

According to residents, the proposed elevated road connecting Kad Nagar junction to the road leading to Nyati Windchimes and further areas was announced to ease traffic pressure on Undri Marg, which they say is currently in poor condition. The project, being implemented under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, began in September 2025 with the closure of an alternate private road that passed through Someshwar Society and connected to Kad Nagar junction.

Residents said they were initially informed that access to the alternate road would be restored within three to four months, while the elevated road itself was expected to be completed within two years. However, more than six months after the work began, they claim that progress has slowed down and construction activity has come to a halt in recent weeks.

They stated that nearly 7,000 vehicles use Undri Marg daily, including school buses and water tankers, and the closure of alternate routes has increased traffic pressure on the existing road. Residents have also raised concerns about emergency access in case the main road gets blocked.
During a visit to the area earlier, PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram had reportedly reviewed the situation, while officials from the roads department had assured residents of timely progress on the project.
Residents have demanded a clear roadmap from the civic body regarding when the work will resume and the expected timeline for completion of the elevated road.

Another issue raised by citizens is the incomplete work related to shifting low-tension (LT) electricity lines and structures at Kad Nagar junction. According to residents, the work to dismantle the existing structures and install an underground cable system had begun before the civic elections but has remained stalled since then.

They say the presence of electric poles and related infrastructure at the junction is obstructing traffic movement and worsening congestion in the area. Residents claim that traffic jams at the T-junction sometimes last up to an hour, particularly due to roadside vendors and other encroachments occupying parts of the carriageway.

The situation is further aggravated by the presence of several schools in the vicinity, with residents estimating that around 14 schools operate in the surrounding areas, resulting in heavy movement of school buses and private vehicles during peak hours.

Citizens have also pointed out that illegal encroachments at several locations, including near the fish market at the turning towards the road leading to Tribeca Mall and at the foothill of Undri Marg, are contributing to frequent traffic snarls.
Residents have urged the civic administration to take prompt action against the encroachments and expedite pending infrastructure works. They have also demanded a clear timeline from the Pune Municipal Corporation for completing the road project, shifting the electric infrastructure and improving traffic conditions in the Mohdwadi–Undri area.
