Pune: Four Juveniles Held for Attempt to Murder in Revenge Attack Plot
Pune, 18th March 2026: The Pune city police’s crime branch has apprehended four juveniles for allegedly attempting to carry out a revenge attack amounting to attempt to murder, officials said on Wednesday.
According to police, the incident came to light when a Unit 4 team on night patrol noticed a suspicious vehicle. As officers approached, two occupants attempted to flee. One of them was caught after an officer grabbed his leg, during which the juvenile allegedly attacked the officer’s hand. Police recovered three sharp weapons and a sickle from the group and seized the vehicle, worth around Rs 40,500.
During questioning, the juveniles told police that one among them had been assaulted by the intended victim’s brother around 11 days ago. Seeking revenge, the group allegedly hatched a plan to attack him, police said.
A case has been registered at the Hadapsar police station under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to attempt to murder, along with provisions of the Arms Act, the Maharashtra Police Act and the Juvenile Justice Act.
Police said the juveniles have been produced before the appropriate authorities and placed in custody as per procedure.
