Pune: 20-Year-Old Man Dies After Consuming Poison, Wife and Six Others Booked for Abetment
Katraj, 28th March 2026: The Ambegaon Police have registered a case against seven individuals, including the wife and in-laws of a 20-year-old man, for allegedly inciting him to commit suicide. The victim, identified as Mohammad Saad Asif Sayyad, reportedly consumed poison following a series of physical assaults and verbal harassment by his relatives.
According to the police report, the incident took place in the early hours of March 12, 2026, around 2:30 AM. The victim was inside a rickshaw parked in front of Delight Bakery in the Santosh Nagar area of Katraj, when the situation escalated.
The complainant, Naushad Tanvir Ahmad (41), a reporter residing in Malegaon, Nashik, and the father of the deceased, alleged that his son was driven to suicide due to continuous harassment. Saad was rushed to Sassoon Hospital in Pune for treatment after consuming “Rat Kill” poison, but he ultimately succumbed.
The FIR states that between March 7 and March 12, 2026, Mohammad Saad was subjected to frequent verbal abuse and physical manhandling. The accused allegedly insulted him and assaulted him with their hands on multiple occasions.
The victim’s father claimed that the relentless pressure and humiliation from his wife, Karimunnisa (alias Nisha), and her family members left Saad with no choice but to end his life.
The Ambegaon Police have booked seven individuals in connection with the case:
Karimunnisa alias Nisha Khan (20) – Wife
Sarvar alias Kaif Kamru Khan (22) – Brother-in-law
Reshma Kamru Khan (50) – Mother-in-law
Shama Javed Shaikh – Sister-in-law
Javed Shaikh (25) – Brother-in-law
Atharv Kale – Friend of the brother-in-law
Ishita – Friend
The case (FIR No. 118/2026) has been registered under the following sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS):
Section 108: Abetment of suicide.
Section 115(2): Voluntarily causing hurt.
Section 352: Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace.
Section 3(5): Joint liability/common intention.
The investigation is being supervised by Senior Police Inspector Sharad Zine of Ambegaon Police Station. The team that visited the spot includes:
