Pune: PCMC Razes Illegal Structures in Rahatani, Clears 88 sq m Area
Pune, 1st April 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation on Tuesday carried out an anti-encroachment drive against illegal constructions in areas under its ‘G’ ward office, removing structures spread across nearly 88.87 square metres.
The action was undertaken in Vrindavan Colony and Tapkir Mala Chowk areas of Rahatani, falling under ward number 27. Civic officials said the drive is part of the civic body’s ongoing efforts to curb unauthorised constructions in the city.
The operation was carried out on the directions of municipal commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi and under the guidance of additional commissioner Trupti Sandbhor. It was supervised by G ward officer Kishor Nanaware.
During the operation, 12 personnel from the Maharashtra Security Force (MSF), one police officer, five civic workers, and four labourers deployed through a contractor were present. The illegal structures were demolished using equipment such as a JCB breaker, tractor-mounted breaker and manual tools.
Civic officials said similar drives will continue in the coming days and urged citizens to adhere to building regulations while undertaking construction activities.
