Pune: POCSO Accused Arrested, Chargesheet Filed Within 24 Hours After Incident
Pune, 1st April 2026: In a swift breakthrough, the Hadapsar police arrested a man accused in a POCSO case within 24 hours of the offence and filed a chargesheet before the court the same day.
The case pertains to an incident reported on March 29, when a minor girl was allegedly molested at a general store in the Hadapsar area. According to the police, the accused approached the girl on the pretext of asking for a mobile charger and attempted to make physical advances.
An FIR was registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, following which the investigation was handed over to police sub-inspector Priyanka Kolewad.
Investigators examined CCTV footage from the area and used technical analysis to identify the suspect. He was later traced and arrested. The accused has been identified as Omkar Balkrishna Korde (26), a resident of Kalepadal.
Police said they recovered the clothes worn by the accused at the time of the incident and seized the two-wheeler allegedly used by him. Statements of witnesses were recorded as part of the probe.
Officials said the swift collection of evidence helped complete the investigation in a short span. A chargesheet was filed before the court within 24 hours of the offence, police said.
