Pune: Safety Negligence Alleged After Worker Dies at Baner’s Yuvee Homes Construction Project
Baner, 31st March 2026: The Baner Police have registered a case against a project manager and a site engineer following the death of a 35-year-old construction laborer at a site in the Pallod Farms area. The victim died after an iron safety mesh and pipe fell on him from the 15th floor due to alleged safety negligence.
The incident took place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, around 1:30 PM at the “Yuvee Homes” construction site, managed by YRK Ventures. The victim, identified as Karim Chamatkar Sheikh (35), a native of West Bengal currently residing in a labor camp in Bavdhan, was working on the ground level.
According to the complaint filed by his brother-in-law, Rabiul Rahid Sheikh (32), workers were removing iron safety meshes and pipes on the 15th floor of the building. During this process, a heavy iron pipe and mesh fell from the height and struck Karim directly on his head, causing him to lose consciousness immediately.
Karim was rushed to Aundh Hospital by his colleagues. However, after an examination, doctors declared him dead at approximately 3:15 PM. The medical report cited the cause of death as “multiple injuries.”

Following the statement of the complainant, the Baner Police registered an FIR (No. 0090/2026) on the night of March 28. The police have booked the following individuals:
Shubham Rajesh Awasthi (28): Project Manager, Yuvee Homes.
Vishal Vyankatrao Kate (49): Site Engineer.
An unidentified individual.
The accused have been charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, specifically:
Section 106(1): Causing death by negligence.
Section 3(5): Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention.
The complainant alleged that the site management failed to provide essential safety equipment or implement necessary precautions for workers, directly leading to the fatal accident. Police Sub-Inspector Anil Jalindar Kekan is leading the investigation.
