Pune: Three Wagholi Cops Suspended for Extorting IT Professional with ‘Sex Racket’ Threat

Wagholi, 9th April 2026: In a major crackdown on police misconduct, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has suspended three personnel from the Wagholi police station. The action follows allegations that the officers extorted money from an IT professional by threatening to frame him and his female friend in a false “sex racket” case.
The suspended personnel have been identified as Head Constable (HC) Kiran Abdagire, and Police Constables (PC) Ganesh Khade and Kiran Kamble.
According to the official suspension order issued by DCP (Zone 7) Somay Munde, the incident occurred on the night of April 2, 2026. The beat marshals, PC Khade and PC Kamble, responded to a “noise complaint” from neighbors at the ‘Z Residence’ society in Wagholi. The neighbors had reported “loud noises” and expressed suspicion regarding a girl being present in the room of the 24-year-old youth.
The investigation revealed that instead of following legal protocols, the constables took him to the police station. There, HC Kiran Abdagire allegedly joined them in intimidating the young man. The officers reportedly slapped the victim and threatened to:
Register a “sex racket” criminal case against him.
Inform his parents and relatives about the incident.
Ensure he loses his job in the IT sector.
Under extreme duress, the victim was forced to pay. PC Ganesh Khade allegedly used a PhonePe QR code for “Omkar Auto Garage” and forced him to transfer Rs 10,000 to the account. According to sources, the accused policemen had also taken the girl to the police station at night.
After the victim reported the matter, an internal inquiry was conducted. Commissioner Amitesh Kumar took a serious view of the “undisciplined and irresponsible” behavior that “tarnished the image of the police force.”
DCP Somay Munde officially executed the suspension orders on April 7, 2026, under the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951. During their suspension, the three staffers will be attached to the Police Headquarters and are prohibited from taking up private employment.
