Two Bangladeshi Women Held in Pune’s Budhwar Peth, Deportation Process Begins
Budhwar Peth, 11th April 2026: Two Bangladeshi women (aged 38 and 39) were apprehended from the Budhwar Peth area by the Faraskhana Police Station team following a tip-off about suspected illegal stay, officials said on Saturday.
According to police, a team was dispatched after receiving specific information about foreign nationals residing in the area without valid authorization. During the operation, the two women were detained and their documents were verified.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Krushikesh Rawale said that the women have been identified as Bangladeshi nationals and are currently being deported. “Under the new government guidelines, swift deportation is now possible. This is among the earliest cases where the new deportation directives are being implemented,” he said.
Police officials also revealed that both women were found in possession of Aadhaar cards. An investigation has been initiated to determine how these identity documents were obtained.
Further inquiry is underway to identify any local links or networks that may have facilitated their stay and documentation, police added.
