CM Medical Scheme Aids 3,861 Patients in Pune with Rs 34.53 Cr Support
Pune, 15th April 2026: The Chief Minister Office on Wednesday revealed that a total of 3,861 patients in Pune district have received medical financial assistance worth around Rs 34.53 crore from the CM Medical Assistance Scheme during the current financial year 2025-26.
The scheme has emerged as a crucial support system for eligible and needy patients who are unable to avail benefits under other government health programmes.
Officials said several reforms introduced under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis have streamlined the functioning of the scheme. These include the establishment of district-level cells, a paperless application process and faster disposal of applications. Additionally, support from charitable hospitals, institutions and donors through tie-ups and crowdfunding initiatives has further strengthened the system.
Authorities said that improvements in the fund’s functioning and the availability of multiple assistance channels have enhanced transparency and significantly sped up the disbursal process, ensuring timely financial aid to a larger number of beneficiaries.
The scheme provides assistance for treatment of 20 serious medical conditions, including cochlear implants (for children aged 2 to 6 years), heart, liver, kidney, lung and bone marrow transplants, knee and hip replacements, cancer surgeries, road accident injuries, paediatric surgeries, neurological disorders, cardiac ailments, dialysis, chemotherapy and radiation for cancer, ligament injuries, neonatal conditions, burn injuries and electrical accident cases.
Earlier this year, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund cell, BPCL Foundation and Tata Memorial Centre to support cancer treatment for children. Under this agreement, funds will be made available through corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, helping ease the financial burden and improve access to quality treatment for underprivileged children.
Statewide, between April 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026, as many as 40,776 patients received medical assistance amounting to Rs 333.06 crore under the scheme. Of these, Pune district alone accounted for 3,861 beneficiaries, who received aid worth nearly Rs 34.54 crore.
Beneficiaries seeking to avail of the scheme or requiring more information can contact the toll-free helpline 1800 123 2211, said Rameshwar Naik, head of the Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund and Charitable Hospitals Help Cell.
