Pune, 15th April 2026: The Pune Traffic Police have announced a special drive to identify and seize abandoned and unused vehicles parked on public roads across the city, starting April 15.

As part of the drive, officials will locate vehicles that have been lying unattended for long periods or are improperly parked, causing obstruction to traffic and inconvenience to commuters.

According to the police, notices will be issued or affixed on such vehicles, following which action will be initiated within 48 hours. If the vehicle owner fails to remove the vehicle within 24 hours of receiving the notice, it will be declared abandoned and taken into custody.

Officials said that penalties will be imposed by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), and vehicles will be released only after the fines are paid.

The traffic police have also appealed to citizens to take part in the drive by reporting abandoned or dust-laden vehicles in their neighbourhoods through the Pune Traffic Police (PTP) mobile application.

Authorities said the drive aims to improve traffic flow and ensure safer and smoother road conditions in the city.
