Pune: PCMC Corporators Sleep Overnight at MSEDCL Office to Protest Power Cut in Nigdi
Pimpri Chinchwad, 15th April 2026: A protest at the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) office in Nigdi by BJP corporators and their associates against an extended power cut has drawn attention.
According to local residents, electricity supply in Nigdi’s Sector 22 was abruptly interrupted around 6 pm on Wednesday due to a technical snag. With power yet to be restored even after 1 am, citizens, already reeling under soaring temperatures, became increasingly agitated.
Amid mounting public anger, corporators Bapu Gholap and Uttam Kenjale reached the MSEDCL office in Nigdi and demanded an explanation from officials over the delay in restoring supply.
To protest the prolonged disruption, the corporators, along with party office-bearers and supporters, staged a sit-in inside the power utility office and spent the night there sleeping in the power utility premises.
Videos of the protest, showing the corporators and workers sleeping inside the MSEDCL office premises, have gone viral on social media and sparked widespread discussion in the city.
Sources have said that the corporators and their associates also vandalised the office in anger in protest. However, the police have not received any complaints in this regard so far
