Viman Nagar, 17th April 2026: Flight operations at Pune Airport were temporarily suspended on Friday night following an incident involving an Indian Air Force aircraft, prompting diversions of incoming flights to Surat and Goa’s Mopa airport.
According to initial reports, a fighter jet reportedly crash-landed on the runway, rendering it unavailable for civilian air traffic. The situation led to immediate disruption of both arrivals and departures, with several flights diverted as a precautionary measure.

Confirming the development, the Indian Air Force stated that the runway is “temporarily unavailable due to an incident involving an IAF aircraft.” The force added that the aircrew involved in the incident are safe and there has been no damage to civil property.
Authorities are currently working to clear the runway and restore normal flight operations at the earliest. Airport officials have advised passengers to check with their respective airlines for updated flight schedules.
Further details about the cause of the incident are awaited.
