Pune/Solapur, 23 April 2026: A dacoity attempt on board Train No. 12115 Siddeshwar Express was foiled by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) on April 22, leading to the arrest of nine women accused following a coordinated operation across multiple stations.
The action began at Kurduwadi railway station, where an RPF Crime Prevention and Detection Squad (CPDS) team noticed three women moving in a suspicious manner. They were questioned and warned before being allowed to leave. The same individuals were later seen boarding Train No. 22108 Latur Express, prompting an alert to RPF units across the section.
According to officials, the suspects got down at Jeur railway station and subsequently boarded the Siddeshwar Express with the intent to commit dacoity. The RPF relayed inputs to the onboard escort team and maintained surveillance using photographs and passenger inputs.
The escort team on the Siddeshwar Express tracked the suspects during the journey, while another RPF team was positioned at Solapur railway station. Upon arrival, all nine accused were taken into custody by the RPF personnel, including a woman constable.
Officials stated that the arrested individuals, aged between 18 and 40 years, are residents of Dharashiv district. The accused were later handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Kurduwadi.
A case has been registered under Section 310(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, pertaining to preparation for dacoity, under Crime No. 26/2026. Investigation is ongoing, including verification of possible prior criminal involvement of the suspects.
