Baner, 25th April 2026: A 19-year-old labourer lost his life after falling from a high-rise construction site, ‘Virkar Seven’, on Pancard Club Road in Baner on Thursday morning, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Ragib Ehsan Raqib, a native of Katihar district in Bihar. The incident occurred around 9.30 am while he was working on the 19th floor of an under-construction building, reportedly installing external shuttering plates for a slab.

Following the incident, Baner police have booked the builder, site supervisor and labour contractor under Section 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The complaint was filed by the victim’s brother, Mohammed Raquib. In his statement, he alleged that basic safety measures were not in place at the site. According to the complaint, workers were not provided with protective gear, and no safety nets had been installed, which led to the fatal fall.

Police officials confirmed that a case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
