Pune, 28th April 2026: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has increased the monthly honorarium for contract-based professors in its academic departments by ₹10,000. With this revision, professors will now receive ₹50,000 per month, up from ₹40,000.

The decision was taken at the Management Council meeting held on April 25 at the university campus under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Dr. Suresh Gosavi. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr. Parag Kalkar, Acting Registrar Dr. Prafulla Pawar, and other council members were present.

The council also approved the renewal of its agreement with Ruby Hall Clinic for another year to continue providing medical and emergency services to students at the university health centre.

For the academic year 2026–27, a provision of ₹40 lakh has been allocated for the student accident insurance scheme. Additionally, a committee headed by Principal Dr. Nitin Ghorpade has been formed to suggest measures to address issues faced by students during examinations.

Approval was also granted to appoint an academic coordinator to strengthen the Ahilyanagar sub-centre. Another committee, led by Dr. Rajendra Vikhe Patil, has been constituted to improve the visibility of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue on campus.

In a major cultural initiative, the university has granted in-principle approval to develop a world-class dance complex on around three acres of land under a CSR initiative of the Indian Classical Dance Conservation Institute. A detailed project report has been sought.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Gosavi said the decisions reflect a balanced approach towards student welfare, academic quality, and cultural development through efficient administration.
