Actor Sonali Kulkarni Stuck for Hours in Mankhurd Congestion on Way to Pune, Shares Video on Social Media
Mumbai, 30th April 2026: Actor Sonali Kulkarni, who was heading towards Pune from Mumbai on Wednesday was among hundreds of commuters stranded for hours in a massive traffic jam triggered by a crane collapse on the Sion–Panvel highway near Mankhurd. In a video posted on social media platform she described the ordeal as “extremely scary” as she remained stuck for over five hours in the congestion.
Kulkarni took to social media to share her experience, posting a video on Instagram from the Mankhurd bridge where traffic had come to a complete standstill. She said that despite reaching out to the traffic control team, she was only advised to remain patient.
“Hi, I am here on Mankhurd bridge. It’s been exactly five hours that we are stuck here. I am going towards Pune. You can see the traffic behind me and ahead of me. We called the traffic control team; they are saying to have patience,” she said in the video.
“The jam is really bad and they are not sure when it will get resolved. We can’t cross. We are completely stuck because we can’t turn back either. Pray for us. Police, if you know anything or can come from the other side and give us an update, then please do. We can’t even say we are hungry, it’s beyond that. I know people must have gone through much worse situations than us, but this is scary, five hours at just one position,” she added.
Her post struck a chord with many on social media, with users sharing similar experiences and flagging the worsening traffic situation in the city. One user wrote they were stuck for seven hours from BKC to Vashi bridge, while another said they were held up for three hours.
The chaos was triggered late on April 28 when an excavator-mounted drilling crane collapsed onto the busy Sion–Panvel highway in the Mankhurd area, bringing traffic to a grinding halt across Mankhurd, Chembur and adjoining stretches. The congestion spilled over into the next day, leaving commuters stranded for hours.
