Pune: 4-Year-Old Girl Found Dead in Bhor; 65-Year-Old Man Detained on Suspicion of Sexual Assault
Bhor, 2nd May 2026: A four-year-old girl was found murdered in the Nasrapur area of Bhor taluka on Friday, in an incident that has shocked the region. Police have detained a 65-year-old man in connection with the case, with suspicion of sexual assault.
According to preliminary information, the child had gone missing earlier, and her body was later discovered concealed under a heap of cow dung. Police suspect sexual assault and are awaiting medical reports to confirm the exact cause of death.
Rajgad police launched an immediate investigation and detained the accused within hours of the incident coming to light.
The incident triggered strong reactions from local residents, who staged a protest on the Pune–Satara highway on Friday night, leading to temporary traffic disruption. A group of villagers also gathered at the Rajgad police station, demanding strict action in the case.
Senior police officials reached the spot and appealed for calm, assuring that stringent legal action would be taken against the accused. Additional police personnel have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order.
Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill visited the area and reviewed the situation. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing, and further details will emerge based on forensic and medical findings.
