Pune, 2nd May 2026: Nearly eight years after the construction of three overhead water tanks opposite Dorabjee Heritage Mall, water has finally begun flowing into the long-idle infrastructure, bringing much-needed relief to residents of Mohammadwadi and Undri.

The development has been credited to the intervention of Additional Municipal Commissioner Pavneet Kaur, with the Mohammadwadi Undri Residents Welfare Development Foundation acknowledging her role in pushing the stalled project forward.

Sunil Koloti, a representative of the foundation, said, “For years, these tanks stood as symbols of neglect despite repeated follow-ups. It is only due to Pavneet Kaur’s efforts and hands-on approach that water has finally started flowing.”

Echoing similar sentiments, Sunil Iyer said, “We have seen many assurances over the years, but this time the action on the ground made the difference. The delays were addressed and the system was made accountable. This is a huge relief for thousands of residents in the area.”

Residents said the development marks a significant step toward stabilising water supply in the rapidly growing suburbs, which have long grappled with inadequate infrastructure despite a rising population. Water testing was carried out on Saturday night.

Additional Commissioner Pavneet Kaur said, “Under the Water Supply Department head Nandkishore Jagtap, the entire team has worked tirelessly, day and night, to ensure the successful commissioning of this project. This is an extremely happy and proud moment for all of us, as the long-awaited infrastructure has finally become operational and will greatly benefit the citizens. This project had been pending for several years, and our priority was to ensure that all technical and quality parameters were met before commissioning. The water testing conducted on Saturday night was successful. Our focus remains on delivering reliable and safe water infrastructure to every household without further delay.”
