Pune: SRPF Suspend Daund Constable Exam Process amid ‘85 questions match’ Controversy
Pune, 6th May 2026: The State Reserve Police Force has suspended the constable recruitment process conducted at Daund following allegations that several questions in the exam were drawn from material circulated by a private coaching institute before the test.
The examination, conducted on May 2 for 104 vacancies at SRPF Unit 5 in Daund, drew criticism after Supriya Sule and Vijay Wadettiwar raised concerns, alleging that around 85 questions closely matched content that had already been shared on social media platforms.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the SRPF said the Deputy Inspector General has initiated an inquiry into the matter on May 4 and the recruitment process has been suspended until further orders.
Raising concerns over the credibility of the exam, Sule said a video had surfaced suggesting that 85 questions matched those shared by a private coaching class on the messaging platform Telegram. “If this is true, it is extremely alarming. Thousands of aspirants spend years preparing for such exams, and they must be fair and beyond doubt,” she said.
“While one or two questions matching may be understandable, how did 85 questions appear exactly the same? This needs a thorough probe,” she added.
Wadettiwar alleged that the government was “playing with the future of youth” and termed the exam a “mockery of transparency”. “Out of 100 questions, 85 were allegedly lifted verbatim from a private publication. Was this an exam or an open-book test?” he asked.
He said nearly 3,977 candidates had appeared for the exam and demanded strict action against those responsible. “The government must decide whether to protect the guilty or punish them. Otherwise, transparency in recruitment will remain only on paper,” he said.
