Software Engineer Dies After Car Driven by 19-Year-Old Hits Him During Morning Exercise on Pashan Road

Pashan, 12th September 2026: A 48-year-old software engineer died after being hit by a car near Necklace Garden on the Pashan-Bavdhan Road on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Virendra Raghavendra Prasad Dwivedi, a resident of Gulmohar Plaza in Vivekanand Society, Pashan.

According to Pune Police, Dwivedi was out for his morning exercise when the car hit him at around 7 a.m. near the Hanuman temple.

Dwivedi sustained serious injuries in the collision. He was taken to hospital in the same car that had hit him, but later succumbed to his injuries.

Speaking to Punekar News, DCP (Zone 4) Rajnikant Chilumula said, “The driver has been identified as Ishan Vishal Sethia (19). He was also injured in the accident. Both were taken to hospital, where Dwivedi succumbed to his injuries. We have not arrested the accused yet as he is also under treatment.”

When asked whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol, the officer said it had not been confirmed yet.

A case has been registered at Chaturshringi Police Station under Sections 106(1) and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Police have seized the vehicle Innova Hycross Hybrid ZX 7s with registeration number MH12YS0622.

Further investigation and legal proceedings are underway.
