Pune: 46-Year-Old Man Arrested for Attempted Assault on 6-Year-Old Girl in Theur
Theur, 6th May 2026: In a deeply disturbing incident, a 46-year-old man was arrested by the Loni Kalbhor police for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a six-year-old girl in Theur on Tuesday night, May 5.
The accused has been identified as Shridhar Limbaji Kamble, a resident of Bhimnagar, Theur. According to police officials, the victim, a resident of Pune, had been visiting her grandfather’s house in Theur for her summer vacations.
The incident came to light when the minor girl informed her mother about the accused’s inappropriate behavior and the attempted assault. Acting swiftly, the family approached the Loni Kalbhor Police Station to lodge a formal complaint.
The police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and immediately took Kamble into custody. Following his production in court, the accused has been remanded to judicial custody.
This incident has sparked significant outrage among local residents, especially as it follows closely on the heels of other horrific crimes in the district, including the assault and murder of a minor in Nasrapur and a recent assault case in Parvati, Pune. Concerned citizens are questioning the effectiveness of the law in deterring such criminals, with many demanding the harshest possible punishment to ensure the safety of children in the region.
The Loni Kalbhor police are conducting further investigations into the matter.
