Pune, 6th May 2026: In a significant move to bolster public participation in traffic management, the Pune City Traffic Branch held an award ceremony today to honor citizens who effectively reported traffic violations through the ‘PTP’ (Pune Traffic Police) mobile application during March 2026. The event took place at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) in Yerwada.

Key Highlights of the Ceremony

The awards were presented by Manoj Patil, Additional Commissioner of Police, Pune City. The initiative aims to encourage residents to proactively assist the police in maintaining traffic discipline by reporting offenders through the digital platform.

The prize winners for the month of March 2026 received cash rewards and certificates as follows:
First Prize: ₹50,000/- and a Certificate
Second Prize: ₹25,000/- and a Certificate
Third Prize: ₹15,000/- and a Certificate
Fourth Prize: ₹10,000/- and a Certificate
Fifth Prize: ₹5,000/- and a Certificate

The Impact of the ‘PTP’ App

The ‘PTP’ application was developed to make traffic management more transparent and efficient by involving the community. It allows citizens to upload photos or videos of traffic rule violations, which are then verified by the police to issue e-Challans.

The Traffic Branch released impressive statistics highlighting the app’s success to date:
Total Users: 1,71,794 citizens have registered on the app.
Total Complaints Received: 3,10,169 reports filed by users.
Action Taken: 2,15,312 e-Challans have been issued based on these complaints.
Revenue Generated: A staggering ₹26,34,63,500/- has been collected in fines and deposited with the government.

Official Statements

Addressing the gathering, Additional Commissioner Manoj Patil urged all Punekars to download the ‘PTP’ app and help the police identify violators. He noted that active citizen participation is crucial for making the city’s traffic system more disciplined and safer.

Himmat Jadhav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), concluded the event by congratulating the winners and thanking the citizens for their cooperation. The ceremony was attended by senior officials from various traffic divisions across the city.
