Pune: Fire Breaks Out at Kalyani Nagar’s Sky Lounge Building, Major Mishap Averted
Kalyani Nagar, 11th May 2026: A fire broke out in a terrace flat on the 10th floor of the ‘Sky Lounge’ building in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area on Monday evening, causing extensive damage to household items including a television, refrigerator, air conditioner and other domestic appliances.
However, prompt action by the fire brigade prevented the blaze from spreading to other apartments in the residential building, averting a major mishap.
According to Fire Brigade officials, the incident occurred around 5:45 pm at the Sky Lounge building in Kalyani Nagar. Panic gripped residents after thick smoke was seen billowing out of the terrace flat on the 10th floor.
Officials said strong winds and the presence of combustible materials caused the fire to intensify rapidly. However, all residents managed to evacuate the building safely soon after the fire broke out.
Upon receiving information about the incident, two fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Yerwada Fire Station in-charge Sanjay Jadhav, B.T. Kawade Road Fire Station in-charge Nilesh Lonkar and fire personnel carried out firefighting operations and managed to bring the blaze completely under control within a short time.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
