Pune Power Cut Today: MSEDCL Announces 6-Hour Shutdown in Sinhagad Road Areas Amid 42°C Heatwave
Sinhgad Road, 14th May 2026: Even as Pune continues to reel under intense heatwave conditions, with temperatures touching nearly 42 degrees Celsius, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has announced a six-hour power shutdown in several areas along Sinhagad Road on Thursday, May 14, for maintenance work.
The power supply will remain suspended from 7 am to 1 pm due to repair and maintenance work being carried out by Mahatransco at various substations. Residents have expressed frustration over the timing of the shutdown, saying it will cause significant inconvenience during the peak summer heat.
Areas likely to be affected include Nanded City Township, Warje Tower Works, the Rathi Behre area, Bhujbal Township, Indrayani Colony, Happy Colony, Kharade Patil Society, Anandnagar, the RMD College and School area, Shriram Society, and Vasudha Ishwara.
Power supply will also remain disrupted in Uttamnagar, Dangat Patil Nagar, Shinde Park, Kondhave Dhawade, Ramnagar, Ganpati Matha, Ahire village, Deshmukhwadi, and Shivane. Khadakwasla village, Kirkatwadi, Kolewadi, Dhayari village, JP Nagar, Shivane village, Dhonde Corner, and the Arachti area will also face outages.
In addition, residents from the Damadi area, Agam Mandir vicinity, Sai Mystic View, KB Developers, Amit Blossomfield Society, Ambegaon, Jambhulwadi Road, Dallenagar, the Sunbright School area, Lipane Vasti, the Jambhulwadi Lake area, Athensia Royal Society, and Takshashila Society are expected to be affected.
Citizens said the prolonged power cut would make it difficult to cope with the extreme heat, as most households are heavily dependent on fans, coolers, air conditioners, and water pumps during the ongoing heatwave.
Residents have also questioned the planning of the power utility and raised concerns over carrying out such extensive maintenance work during a period of severe summer temperatures.
