Pune: Dr Sagar Shelke’s AI Smart FIR System Aims to Transform Crime Investigation in India
Pune, 15th May 2026: An AI-based Smart FIR System developed by Dr Sagar Shelke, Principal of the Law College run by Shri Shivaji Maratha Society, has received official patent registration from the Government of India’s Patent Office.
The AI-powered system aims to modernise crime registration and investigation processes through the use of advanced technology. The Smart FIR System includes features such as on-the-spot digital FIR registration, voice-based complaint recording, crime pattern identification, prediction of possible crimes, and analysis of crime hotspots.
Officials said the system is expected to assist law enforcement agencies in making faster, more accurate, and data-driven decisions during investigations and policing operations.
Dr Shelke’s research is being viewed as a significant step towards smart policing, digital governance, and technological innovation. The development is also expected to create future opportunities for government implementation, technological advancement, and industry collaboration.
Recognising the achievement, the management committee of Shri Shivaji Maratha Society passed a congratulatory resolution during its meeting. Former Mayor Kamal Vyavahare, honorary secretary Annasaheb Thorat, and other members of the society were present at the meeting.
Dr Sagar Shelke’s work has received appreciation from various quarters for its contribution to technology-driven policing and modern public administration.
