Katraj, 16th May 2026: The land acquisition process for the proposed 50-metre Development Plan (DP) road between Katraj Chowk and Pisoli has gained momentum, enabling the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to take possession of the land required for the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) flyover project at Katraj. With the required land now available, work on the long-pending flyover project has resumed at a faster pace.

Mayor Manjusha Nagpure and PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram on Friday visited the Katraj-Kondhwa area to review the ongoing land acquisition and road development work.

MLC Yogesh Tilekar, Leader of the House Ganesh Bidkar, ward committee chairperson Ranjana Tilekar, corporators Archana Jagtap and Pooja Kadam, Additional Municipal Commissioner Omprakash Divte, Superintendent Engineer Ajit Bambale and Land Acquisition Officer Shweta Darunkar were present during the inspection.

Officials said the state government had initiated the acquisition process for the 50-metre-wide road, which is part of the proposed 84-metre DP road in the Katraj and Kondhwa areas. On April 27, 2026, the Special Land Acquisition Officer announced the award for around 41,000 square metres of land.

PMC has deposited nearly Rs 197 crore with the government for the acquisition. After issuing a 15-day notice, the civic administration started taking physical possession of the land from May 14. In the first two days, PMC took possession of 48 out of 109 properties, covering nearly 25,000 square metres.

Following the handover of land required for the flyover, the PMC Road Department has started work on the NHAI project.

Separately, preparations are underway for the inauguration of newly constructed water tanks under the 24×7 water supply project for Mohammadwadi, Undri and NIBM areas. The inauguration ceremony will be held on May 17 at Ghule Chowk near Dorabjee Mall in Undri and will be attended by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Officials from the Water Supply Department said the project is expected to improve the regularity and pressure of water supply in Undri and nearby areas.
