Twisha Sharma Death Case: Belt Used in Hanging Was Missing During Post-Mortem, SIT Reveals
Bhopal, 19th May 2026: The death case of Twisha Sharma, a resident of Noida, has continued to draw nationwide attention as fresh revelations have emerged during the ongoing Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe.
According to the post-mortem report issued by AIIMS Bhopal, the belt allegedly used by Twisha Sharma to hang herself at her in-laws’ residence was not produced before doctors at the time of the post-mortem examination. The absence of the alleged ligature material prevented doctors from matching it with the injury marks found on her neck.
SIT chief Dr. Rajnish Kashyap stated that this lapse has raised serious concerns regarding the investigation process, preservation of evidence, and possible tampering. He acknowledged that negligence on the part of the then investigating officer has come to light and said legal action is being initiated against the concerned official.
Dr. Kashyap also clarified that neither the post-mortem report nor the investigation conducted so far has established any evidence of Twisha Sharma consuming narcotic substances. He stated that the medical findings do not support the allegations related to drug consumption that had surfaced earlier in the case.
Meanwhile, police have intensified efforts to arrest absconding accused Samarth Singh. According to the SIT, six to seven teams are continuously conducting raids at multiple locations. Authorities have announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for information leading to his arrest. The process to cancel his passport has also been initiated.
The investigation team is also examining why Twisha Sharma was taken to the hospital without informing the police immediately after the incident. Addressing the issue, Dr. Kashyap said it remains an important aspect of the investigation.
He stated that CCTV cameras installed at the residence are being examined and footage is being collected to understand the sequence of events and the circumstances under which she was taken to the hospital.
Twisha Sharma’s family has alleged that attempts are being made to weaken the case. Responding to the allegations, Dr. Kashyap said the investigation is being carried out impartially and strictly on the basis of technical and forensic evidence, without any external pressure.
