Kanpur Murder: Woman Accused Of Hiring Killers Seen Dancing With Husband On Night Of Killing

Kanpur, 10th September 2026: A video showing a woman accused of orchestrating the murder of her 63-year-old father-in-law dancing at a lounge with her husband on the night of the killing has surfaced, with police alleging that she remained in contact with the suspected assailants during the crime.
The woman, identified as Shalu Minocha, was reportedly at Cosmozin Lounge in Tilak Nagar with her husband Subrat when her father-in-law, pharmaceutical businessman Vineet Minocha, was allegedly being killed at his home on September 5.
The video, reportedly recorded by lounge staff, shows Shalu and Subrat dancing along with other guests. In one clip, the couple is seen dancing to the Bollywood song ‘Tum To Dhokhebaaz Ho’. Police said the footage confirms their presence at the lounge that night. The lounge’s CCTV system reportedly did not have stored footage, while videos recorded by staff helped investigators establish the couple’s presence.
According to police, however, Shalu allegedly remained in contact with the men accused of carrying out the killing through WhatsApp calls, messages and voice calls. Investigators claim she was communicating with and guiding the alleged assailants while she was at the lounge.
Vineet Minocha was found dead at his residence with 26 stab wounds. Police have alleged that Shalu hired her former employee Vishal Gautam and another man to carry out the murder, with the investigation pointing to a payment of ₹6 lakh. She was arrested on Monday in connection with the case.
Police are also investigating an alleged dispute over CCTV cameras installed inside the family’s apartment shortly before the murder. According to investigators, Shalu had objected to the cameras, claiming they affected her privacy. Police are examining this dispute, along with allegations of financial restrictions within the family, as possible motives.
The investigation is ongoing, with police examining call records, digital communications and other evidence to establish the sequence of events and the alleged roles of those involved.
