MMCM – Madame Menaka Choreography Movement
Pune, 20th May 2026: An innovative celebration of choreography and artistic thought, MMCM – Madame Menaka Choreography Movement presents a unique proverb-based choreography initiative that brings together dance, interpretation, and contemporary expression through the timeless wisdom of proverbs.
Conceptualised by Vidushi Shama Bhate and Nadroop, with support from Maharashtra Cultural Centre, the movement encourages choreographers to explore movement as a language of ideas, emotions, and social reflection. Inspired by the pioneering spirit of Madame Menaka, MMCM creates a platform for emerging and established artists to present original works rooted in meaningful concepts.
The movement is generously supported by Rama and Madhav Manjrekar, whose continued encouragement of artistic and cultural initiatives nurtures meaningful creative platforms.
The presentations will be held on 23rd and 24th May from 5.30 PM onwards at Jyotsna Bhole Sabhagruha.
This year’s finalists, Moumita Ghosh, Deepika Potdar, Avani Gadre, Honey Unnikrishnan, and Manisha Gulyani — will present original proverb-based choreographic works, each offering a distinct artistic perspective and interpretation.
Adding depth to the event, distinguished panelists including Alok Paradkar, Nitin Hadap, Chaitanya Kunte, Pradeep Vaidya, Arundhati Patwardhan, and Vibhavari Deshpande will engage in insightful discussions on choreography, artistic process, and the evolving language of dance.
MMCM is also honoured to welcome Waman Kendre as the keynote presence for this year’s movement, who will give a discourse on Visual Theatre on 23rd May. A towering figure in Indian theatre and academia, his lifelong contribution to the performing arts and cultural discourse continues to inspire generations of artists and audiences alike.
MMCM promises to be an enriching confluence of creativity, dialogue, and performance — inviting audiences to experience how traditional wisdom can find powerful expression through movement and choreography.
