Pune: Purandar International Airport Gains Pace, 50% Land Already Acquired; State Govt Releases Additional Rs 500 Crore
Pune, 26th May 2026: The land acquisition process for the proposed international airport at Purandar has picked up momentum, with farmers submitting affidavits for handing over 1,535 acres of land after the compensation formula was finalised.
According to the district administration, nearly 50% of the total 3,000 acres required for the project has now been brought under its possession. So far, compensation worth Rs 450 crore has already been disbursed, while the state government has also released an additional Rs 500 crore to the district administration for further payouts.
Officials said the compensation structure for affected farmers has been finalised, under which a minimum of Rs 1.61 crore per acre will be provided. Taking into account houses, orchards, borewells, and other assets, the average compensation is expected to go up to around Rs 2 crore per acre—nearly four times the original land rate in the affected area.
Following the settlement of rates, farmers who have agreed to part with their land for the airport project have started receiving payments in their bank accounts from May 7, subject to completion of documentation. The process has gained pace, with compensation being directly credited after consent agreements are signed.
District Collector Jitendra Dudi said land acquisition is being carried out across seven villages for the project. In the first phase, compensation is being paid directly to original landowners, and funds are being transferred immediately after agreements are completed.
