Pune Police Rescue Kidnapped One-Year-Old Girl Within 16 Hours, Three Arrested

Pune, 31st May 2026: In a swift and well-coordinated operation, the Pune City Crime Branch and Bund Garden Police rescued a one-year-old girl within 16 hours of her kidnapping from the Pune Railway Station area. Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping.
The incident took place on the night of May 30 at around 9:15 pm in an open area near Dutt Mandir in front of Pune Railway Station. The child was sleeping beside her mother when unidentified persons allegedly kidnapped her while the mother was asleep. A kidnapping case was subsequently registered at Bund Garden Police Station.
Following the complaint, teams from the Pune Crime Branch and Bund Garden Police launched an intensive search operation. Investigators examined footage from more than 65 CCTV cameras installed in and around Pune Railway Station and adjoining areas.
A breakthrough came when CCTV footage captured a man and a woman carrying the missing child. Further analysis revealed that the suspects had boarded the Panvel–Nanded Express from Platform No. 4.
After confirming the train route, Pune Police alerted the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), and local police units at key railway stations along the route. Search teams from the Crime Branch and local police were deployed to important railway junctions, including Kurduwadi, Barshi, Solapur, Latur, and Daund.
During a search operation at Daund Railway Station, police teams located the suspect couple. Following interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to the crime and the child was recovered safely.
Police have taken three persons into custody in connection with the kidnapping. The rescued child is being brought back to Pune, while Bund Garden Police are continuing their investigation to ascertain the motive behind the kidnapping.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Darade, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Tejaswini Satpute, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Gauhar Hasan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Rajlaxmi Shivankar, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rajendra Mulik.
The operation involved personnel from the Anti-Extortion Cell, Crime Branch units, Bund Garden Police Station, the RPF, and the Local Crime Branch, along with officers including Senior Police Inspector Ram Rajmane, Police Inspector Sandipan Pawar, Senior Police Inspector Santosh Pandhare, Police Inspector Bhagwan Ippar, Assistant Police Inspector Abhijit Chougule, Police Sub-Inspector Vaibhav Magdum, and Police Sub-Inspector Pravin Gadhave.
