Mumbai-Pune Expressway Accident: Two Dead, Four Seriously Injured in Three-Vehicle Collision Near Missing Link

Lonavala, 1st June 2026: Two persons died on the spot and four others sustained serious injuries in a horrific multi-vehicle accident on the Mumbai-bound carriageway of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway early Monday morning.

According to preliminary information, the accident involved a container truck, an Eicher tempo, and a Maruti Ertiga car. The collision occurred near the Missing Link section of the expressway, resulting in extensive damage to all three vehicles around 4.30 am.

The Ertiga was completely mangled in the crash, while the front portions of the container truck and the tempo suffered severe damage. The impact was so intense that two occupants died at the scene. Their identities have not yet been established.

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. Police are working to identify both the deceased and the injured.

The accident caused major disruption to traffic, with the Missing Link route remaining completely blocked for nearly an hour. Long queues of vehicles were reported on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway as authorities carried out rescue and clearance operations.

Upon receiving information about the accident, police personnel and emergency response teams rushed to the spot. The damaged vehicles were promptly removed from the carriageway to restore traffic movement.
The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
