Pune: Man Kills Father, Brother in Junnar; Allegedly Sleeps Beside Bodies Overnight

Junnar, 3rd June 2026: A man was detained by police after allegedly killing his father and younger brother in a tribal hamlet in Junnar taluka of Pune district, in a case suspected to have stemmed from a family dispute.

The incident took place at Bagadwadi in Pargaon Madh village. The victims were identified as Jayaram Mahadu Mukane (65) and his son Raju Jayaram Mukane (30).

According to police, the accused, identified as Babaji Mukane, allegedly attacked the two with a stone, resulting in their deaths. In a shocking detail, police said the accused remained at the spot and allegedly slept beside the bodies through the night.

The crime came to light on Wednesday morning when local residents who had gone out to graze goats noticed the bodies and alerted the police.

A team from Otur police station rushed to the spot and conducted a panchnama. The bodies were later sent to the rural hospital in Otur for post-mortem examination.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the double murder may have been triggered by a domestic dispute, though the exact motive is yet to be established. Police have taken the accused into custody and further investigation is underway. The incident has sent shockwaves through the Junnar region.
