Nagpur, 04th June 2026: In a major operation against drug trafficking through railway premises, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) seized approximately 12.35 kilograms of a prohibited narcotic substance valued at around ₹2.47 lakh and arrested a 19-year-old man at Nagpur Railway Station.

The seizure was made on June 2 during a surveillance operation conducted by officials and personnel of the Crime Intelligence Branch (CIB), RPF Nagpur, near the Foot Over Bridge at the Ajni end of Platform No. 8. During the operation, RPF personnel noticed a young man carrying a sea-green trolley bag and behaving suspiciously.

When questioned, the individual failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the contents of the bag. A subsequent inspection and inquiry led to the discovery of six packets wrapped in khaki tape inside the trolley bag. The suspect reportedly admitted that the bag contained a prohibited substance.

Suspecting the material to be narcotic in nature, RPF officials informed the Divisional Security Control Room and summoned the force’s narcotics detection dog, Prince. The canine indicated the presence of narcotic substances in the recovered packets.

The search and seizure were carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in the presence of a Gazetted Officer, independent witnesses and authorized officials. The recovered substance was weighed and found to total 12.35 kilograms.

The accused was identified as Deepak, 19, a resident of Uttar Pradesh. He was subsequently handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP), Nagpur, along with the seized contraband for further legal action.

A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is in progress.
