Pune Police Seize Mephedrone Worth Rs 21 Lakh in Kharadi; Rajasthan Man Arrested
Kharadi, 5th June 2026: The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) Unit-1 of the Pune City Police Crime Branch arrested a 38-year-old man and seized 104.92 grams of Mephedrone (MD) valued at ₹20.98 lakh. The operation was conducted near a bus stop on Mundhwa-Kharadi Road on Friday, June 5, 2026.
According to police, the action was part of an ongoing drive launched under the directions of Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar to curb the sale and distribution of narcotic substances in the city.
On June 5, a team from ANC Unit-1, led by Senior Police Inspector Wahid Pathan, was conducting a routine patrol in the area. During the patrol, Police Constable Nishikant Sawant noticed a man behaving suspiciously near a bus stop close to the HP Petrol Pump on Mundhwa-Kharadi Road.
When questioned, the suspect allegedly gave evasive and misleading responses. Based on his suspicious conduct, the police detained him and carried out a search in the presence of two independent witnesses (panchas). The search led to the recovery of a substantial quantity of Mephedrone, allegedly intended for illegal sale.
The arrested accused has been identified as:

Native Place: Pratapgarh district, Rajasthan
Police recovered the following items from the accused:
* Mephedrone (MD): 104.92 grams, valued at ₹20,98,400
* Mobile phone: Valued at ₹10,000
Total value of seized property: ₹21,08,400
A case has been registered at Kharadi Police Station under Sections 8(c) and 21(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police are investigating the source of the contraband and attempting to identify the intended recipients of the narcotics in Pune.
The operation was executed by Senior Police Inspector Wahid Pathan, Assistant Police Inspector Anil Survase, and the ANC Unit-1 team comprising Nishikant Sawant, Amol Sarade, Rehan Pathan, Sanjay Raje, Nilesh Jadhav, Atul Kshirsagar, Sachin Lohar, Vijay Kamble, Tushar Salunkhe, Rahul Shinde, Asha Bhingare, Janhvi Suryavanshi, Mangesh Gund, and Akshay Shinke.
