Pune, 29th October 2026: Central Railway will temporarily restrict the sale of platform tickets at Pune railway station from November 1 to 15, 2026, to manage the expected rush of passengers during Diwali and Chhath and regulate crowd movement on platforms.

The restriction is intended to reduce unnecessary crowding and ensure safer movement of passengers within the station premises during the festive period.

However, platform tickets will remain available to people accompanying senior citizens, ailing passengers, children, passengers who are unable to read or write, and women who cannot manage their journey independently and require assistance.

Hemant Kumar Behera, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Pune Division, said, “With passenger numbers expected to rise during the Diwali and Chhath festive period, this temporary restriction is aimed at managing crowd movement and ensuring passenger safety at Pune railway station. Platform tickets will still be available for people accompanying passengers who genuinely need assistance, including senior citizens, ailing passengers, children and women who cannot manage their journey independently. We request passengers and their family members to plan their station visits accordingly, avoid crowding platforms unnecessarily and cooperate with railway staff during this period.”

Passengers have been advised to plan their visits to the station accordingly and cooperate with the Railway Administration during the restriction period.
