Pune, 8th June 2026: A 23-year-old man was allegedly kidnapped and an attempt was made on his life over suspicions that he was chatting with a married woman on his mobile phone. However, a swift police response and a dramatic chase in the Dive Ghat area led to his rescue and the arrest of two accused.

The victim, identified as Rishikesh Vijay Chandgude, was rescued after police tracked his location and intercepted the suspects’ vehicle. The arrested accused have been identified as Omkar Prakash Bhosale and Tanmay Sudhir Salunkhe. A woman has also been taken into custody in connection with the case.

According to police, the accused called Chandgude to the Chaturthi Hotel area on the Supa-Morgaon road on Saturday evening. He was then allegedly threatened with a pistol and a knife near the Forest Gate area and forcibly made to sit in a Swift car.

Police said that while taking him towards Pune, the accused allegedly tried to attack him with a knife. Chandgude sustained an injury near his left eyebrow while attempting to defend himself.

The accused later took him to the foothills of Dive Ghat, where he was allegedly assaulted. Taking advantage of the darkness, Chandgude managed to escape from their custody and contacted the police with the help of his friends.

Upon receiving information about the incident, a special team led by Assistant Police Inspector Navsare was dispatched. Alerts were immediately issued to police stations in Jejuri, Saswad, Uruli Kanchan and Yavat, and barricades were set up at strategic locations.

Using technical surveillance, police traced the location of the suspects’ mobile phones to the Dive Ghat area. Acting on the inputs, police launched a search operation and, with the assistance of Saswad police, intercepted the suspects’ Swift car at Zendewadi.

A case has been registered at Supa police station. The accused were produced before a court, which remanded them to four days of police custody. Further investigation is being carried out by Police Sub-Inspector Jinesh Koli.
