Pune: PMC Demolishes Illegal Sheds Along Road Leading to NIBM Annexe Following Residents’ Complaints
Reported by Shoaib Tadvi
Kondhwa,12th June 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Friday carried out an anti-encroachment drive and demolished several allegedly illegal sheds erected along the road leading to NIBM Annexe in the Mohammadwadi area following complaints from local residents.
According to residents, the unauthorized structures had become a major civic concern, occupying public space, creating unhygienic conditions, and affecting the overall appearance and accessibility of the road. Citizens alleged that the sheds caused inconvenience to pedestrians and motorists and contributed to congestion in the rapidly developing locality.
Acting on these complaints, PMC’s Anti-Encroachment Squad conducted the demolition drive and cleared the encroachments from the stretch. The operation was undertaken to restore public access and ensure that roads and civic spaces remain free from unauthorized occupation.
Residents welcomed the civic body’s action, describing it as a much-needed step towards improving the area’s infrastructure and maintaining public spaces. However, they also urged the administration to continue such drives regularly to prevent encroachments from resurfacing.
They stressed that sustained inspections and strict enforcement are essential to preserving roads, footpaths, and other public spaces for citizens.
The demolition drive has once again brought attention to civic concerns in the rapidly growing NIBM–Mohammadwadi corridor, with residents demanding cleaner surroundings, safer roads, and stronger action against illegal encroachments to support planned urban development.
