Five IAF Personnel Killed in AN-32 Aircraft Crash During Training Sortie in Assam

Jorhat, 13th June 2026: Five Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel were killed after an AN-32 transport aircraft crashed during a training sortie near Jorhat in Assam at around 10 a.m. on Saturday.
In a statement posted on X, the IAF said crash site management and preliminary inquiries were underway. The force urged the public to refrain from speculation until the initial findings of the investigation are available.
The Air Force later identified the deceased personnel as Squadron Leader Prashant Singh, Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar, Sergeant Jitendra Sharma, Agniveervayu Khemaram Kumawat, and Agniveervayu Danish Alam.
“The Indian Air Force deeply regrets the loss of five personnel in the AN-32 accident at Jorhat, Assam,” the IAF said in an official statement, adding that the personnel made the “supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.”
The Air Force extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and assured them of its full support during this difficult time.
An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the cause of the crash. Further details are expected to be released as the inquiry progresses.
