Reported by Shoaib Tadvi
Pune, 19th June 2026: In a significant step towards strengthening public safety, the entire Wanowrie Ramtekdi SRPF Forest corridor has been brought under comprehensive CCTV surveillance, ensuring round-the-clock monitoring along the stretch from the SRPF Gate at Ramtekdi to the Nandanvan SRPF Forest Main Gate.
The surveillance project has been implemented under the guidance of Amitesh Kumar and executed by Vivek Pawar as part of Pune Police’s technology-driven policing initiatives.
The newly installed CCTV network is expected to significantly enhance security in the area by enabling continuous monitoring, deterring criminal activities, tracking suspicious movements, improving emergency response times, assisting traffic management, and supporting law enforcement during investigations.
The Wanowrie Ramtekdi SRPF Forest corridor is considered a strategically important route with substantial movement of residents and vehicles. Local citizens have long sought enhanced security measures in the area, making the CCTV installation a welcome development.
Residents and citizen groups have praised Pune Police for completing the project, calling it a major milestone in improving safety and surveillance in the locality.
The NIBM Annexe Forum and the Mohammadwadi Undri Residents Development Welfare Foundation (MURDWF) expressed their gratitude to Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and ACP Vivek Pawar for their leadership and commitment to modernising public safety infrastructure.
Representatives of the organisations said the initiative reflects Pune Police’s proactive approach to crime prevention and public security, adding that the deployment of advanced surveillance technology will help create a safer environment for residents while strengthening confidence in law enforcement.
Residents described the project as a long-awaited security enhancement and a model of effective policing, stating that the CCTV coverage will contribute to safer neighbourhoods and improved peace of mind for people travelling through the Wanowrie–Ramtekdi SRPF Forest corridor.
