Pimpri Chinchwad, 23rd June 2026: The Maharashtra government is set to clear the transfer of 20 hectares of land in Tathawade for the construction of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate headquarters, parade ground and allied facilities, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said on Monday. A government resolution on the land transfer is expected to be issued in the coming days, while the state Cabinet is likely to take the necessary decision within a month, he added.

The proposed land parcel falls under the Animal Husbandry Department and is part of a 67.94-hectare tract in the Valubhata area of Tathawade. In its meeting on October 10, 2024, the state Cabinet had granted in-principle approval for transferring 20 hectares of this land for the police commissionerate’s administrative headquarters and related infrastructure.

The move comes amid long-standing demands for a dedicated and modern headquarters for the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, considering the rapid expansion of the city and the growing burden on law enforcement agencies.

A review meeting on the proposal was recently held under the chairmanship of Bawankule and attended by Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey and other officials. While the Animal Husbandry Department had informed the government that the land was required for its own purposes, the state is considering the larger requirement of strengthening law and order infrastructure in one of Maharashtra’s fastest-growing urban centres.

MLA Mahesh Landge, who attended the meeting said the city urgently needed a modern police headquarters equipped with all necessary facilities. “The state government has taken a positive stand on the proposal and a final decision is expected soon. The project will significantly strengthen the city’s security infrastructure and improve police services for citizens,” he said.
