Lonavala/Pune, 25th June 2026: New details have emerged in the sensational Ketan Agarwal death case, which has shocked Maharashtra and sparked widespread public interest. Investigators allege that Ketan (25) was pushed into a gorge at Lohgad Fort on June 18 and that the incident was made to appear as an accident.

Police have arrested Ketan’s fiancée, Siya Goyal (20), and Chetan Chaudhary (22), who is alleged to have been in a relationship with her. Both were arrested on June 23 after investigators concluded that the case was not an accidental death but a suspected murder.

According to police, suspicion first arose after members of Ketan’s family pointed out inconsistencies in the information provided by Siya following the incident. Investigators found that she had given different versions of how Ketan fell from the fort.

Initially, Siya allegedly told Ketan’s family that he had slipped and fallen while taking a selfie. Later, she reportedly stated that Ketan lost his balance while attempting to retrieve or handle a water bottle. The contradictory explanations prompted Ketan’s family to approach the police with their concerns, leading to a deeper investigation.

Police sources said that Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary had met at a café on the day of the incident. Investigators are examining whether the two discussed locations at Lohgad Fort from where Ketan could be pushed into a gorge. Authorities are currently verifying all evidence related to the alleged conspiracy.

The investigation has also brought attention to the actions of Siya immediately after Ketan’s fall. Lohgad Fort security guard Dheeraj Jadhav, who was on duty that day, recalled hearing cries for help shortly after the incident.

Speaking about the sequence of events, Jadhav said he was stationed on another part of the fort when he heard someone shouting. “I was on the other side of the fort, some distance away from the spot where Ketan fell. Suddenly, I heard loud cries and rushed to the location. When I reached there, the girl, Siya Goyal, was shouting ‘Help, Help.’ Some tourists had also gathered by then, and she was telling everyone that someone had fallen from the fort,” he said.

Jadhav added that he immediately informed the police after learning about the incident. “There are security personnel deployed at the fort round the clock, and a police outpost is located nearby. After I informed the police, officers arrived at the scene within a short time,” he said.

According to Jadhav, Siya’s first reaction after Ketan’s fall was to repeatedly shout for help and alert nearby visitors.

Police continue to analyse CCTV footage, call detail records, digital evidence, and witness statements as part of the ongoing investigation.

Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill said that Siya and Chetan had allegedly hatched a carefully planned conspiracy to eliminate Ketan. The case, which has shocked Pune district, continues to reveal new and disturbing details as the investigation progresses.

Gill said the Agarwal family had expressed suspicion over Ketan’s death, prompting police to conduct a detailed investigation. Their probe subsequently uncovered evidence suggesting that the death was not accidental.

Both accused are currently in police custody, and investigators are working on a war footing to gather strong technical and circumstantial evidence against them.

According to Gill, the investigation has revealed that the accused allegedly planned the crime with a cool and calculated approach, attempting to ensure that it appeared to be an accident and would not immediately attract police suspicion.

Police believe that Lohgad Fort was deliberately chosen as the location for the alleged crime. To establish the sequence of events and strengthen the case, investigators are examining multiple pieces of technical evidence, including pre-wedding shoot footage, mobile phone location data, call detail records (CDRs), and CCTV footage from the surrounding area.

Gill said these elements could prove crucial in determining the movements and actions of the accused before and during the incident.

Police officials said further details will emerge as the investigation progresses and additional evidence is analysed.
