New Delhi, 25th June 2026: India Women strengthened their chances of reaching the knockout stage of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 with a convincing victory over Bangladesh Women at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester, on June 25.
After a disciplined bowling performance restricted Bangladesh to a modest total, India’s batters comfortably chased down the target to secure an important win.
Bangladesh struggled to build any momentum against a disciplined Indian bowling attack. Radha Yadav emerged as the standout performer, claiming three crucial wickets and putting the opposition under constant pressure throughout the innings.
Young spinner Shree Charani continued her impressive tournament run by picking up two important wickets, while Renuka Singh Thakur made an impact on her Women’s T20 World Cup debut with a wicket of her own.
The Indian bowlers maintained tight lines and lengths, ensuring Bangladesh never found an opportunity to accelerate. Chasing the target, India got off to a flying start thanks to Shafali Verma. The explosive opener smashed a brilliant 53 off just 34 deliveries, attacking the Bangladesh bowlers from the outset and giving India complete control of the chase.
Although India lost an early wicket, Jemimah Rodrigues and captain Harmanpreet Kaur stitched together a crucial partnership that stabilised the innings and ensured there were no late hiccups. Their composed approach kept India comfortably ahead of the required run rate.
With victory in sight, experienced all-rounder Deepti Sharma calmly finished the match in style, striking the winning boundary to seal the victory and cap another successful outing for the Indian side.
The win comes at a crucial stage of the tournament and keeps India’s semi-final hopes firmly alive. With Shafali Verma delivering at the top, Radha Yadav and Shree Charani making key breakthroughs, and senior players stepping up when required, India once again demonstrated why they remain among the strongest contenders for the Women’s T20 World Cup title.
